Dr. Kynetta McFarlane, Psy.D., (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in the psychology field. She holds a Master’s of Arts and a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Clinical Psychology, Washington D.C. Dr. McFarlane completed a pre-doctoral internship in clinical psychology at Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health in Canton, Ohio and a postdoctoral fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.  She is an expert in the assessment and treatment of trauma and gender diversity in children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. McFarlane has spoken throughout Ohio and to international audiences on issues related to trauma, culture, and gender diversity. 

 

In therapy, Dr. McFarlane believes in using a strength based, trauma focused approach that respects the client's voice and culture.  She has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT) Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Dialectical and Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
