Alexis Rae Burrow, LPCC-S

Alexis Rae Burrow, MA, LPCC-S (she/her/hers) is a six foot tall, white, cis woman who owns and wears a lot of plus-size clothing. She identifies as a bisexual but recognizes that she lives a life of heteronormativity with a cis male partner. Alexis acknowledges the work that she has done regarding previous diagnosis of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression, which allows her to recognize the work that other people do within their own struggles. She has worked in mental health treatment with adults for over 17 years. She earned her Bachelors in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from The Ohio State University. Before joining CCW, Alexis worked in an outpatient practice, where she provided individual therapy for adults suffering from serious medical and mental health disorders. Alexis has also worked in community mental health as well as at NetCare Access where she conducted assessments and provided crisis intervention.

Alexis believes in a tailored approach to therapy that focuses on individual needs and goals. She wants therapy to be a collaborative approach to finding wellness and sustainability that works uniquely for the person in her room. One of the highlights of working with Alexis is that she doesn’t take herself too seriously, looks and finds joy in the mundane as well as encourages the use of pop culture to connect with each and every person she works with. Alexis is passionate about trauma treatment as well as incorporating humor, fun and silliness into her sessions. She has a long history of working with queer and trans individuals as well as people in Consensual Non-Monogomous relationships. Alexis is passionate about finding the treatment and interventions that work for each individual that she sees.

Alexis is a Certified EMDR Therapist, Certified Expressive Arts Therapist, and a Sex Therapist. Alexis's clinical strengths include providing EMDR, Expressive Arts and Person Centered counseling to address trauma, anxiety, and sex related issues related to the LGBTQ+ community.

When it comes to supervision and consultation, Alexis has previously been employed as a clinician, supervisor, and educator, in community mental health agencies, private practices, and universities. Alexis believes in a conversational, collaborative approach that focuses on individual needs and goals of each supervisee/consultee. In 2012, she received The Outstanding Doctoral Student in Mental Health Counseling Award from The Ohio State University specifically for her work in supervising students during their first practicum and internship experiences in Community Counseling. Alexis has been supervising counselors for over 12 years and has expanded her skill set by becoming an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in 2021.
