Alison.jpg

Alison Merrill, LPC (she/her) is a white, cisgender, bisexual woman who is passionate about providing a safe, non-judgmental, inclusive, and collaborative space to support people in therapy. As a licensed professional counselor, yoga instructor, and reiki practitioner, Alison is deeply interested in a holistic approach to working with clients to best support their mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Her areas of clinical experience include working with people navigating anxiety, depression, identity and gender exploration, perfectionism, sexual trauma, family of origin concerns, life transitions, burnout, and relationships. She is passionate about providing care that considers the client and intersecting identities as well as systemic and environmental factors that may be impacting presenting concerns.

Alison is experienced in working with clients of various backgrounds and identities. She is especially interested in working with the LGBTQIA2S+ community and with people navigating reproductive health and prenatal issues. Before joining CCW, she worked with adolescents, families, college students, and graduate students. As a therapist, Alison aims to help clients feel empowered to be their most authentic self and improve their quality of life, whatever that means to them. She approaches each session with strong compassion and curiosity about the client’s lived experience and goals and is interested in how she can collaborate with each person to foster connection and support.

Alison’s therapeutic approach is heavily client-centered and incorporates elements of Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with trauma informed and mindfulness-based interventions. In session with her, you can expect a calm and grounded environment to explore your story and experience at your own pace. She invites you to show up to therapy as you are, with whatever you might need to feel comfortable in the therapy space!

Outside of sessions, Alison loves practicing and teaching yoga, dancing, hanging out at cute local coffee shops, spending quality time with friends, and going to sound baths. You can also find her spending time in nature, reading tarot for herself and others, and facetiming with her nieces and nephew in Florida.
