ANNA BETZEL, LSW

Betzel Headshot.jpg

Anna Betzel, LSW (she/her) is an Asian-American, cisgender, bisexual woman, and international adoptee. She is passionate about supporting individuals with marginalized and intersecting identities, including international students, third culture individuals, BIPOC individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Her clinical background involves working with young adults, college students, and graduate students navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, OCD, perfectionism, identity exploration and formation, family of origin concerns, and trauma.

Anna loves supporting individuals in the messy but magical space of reflecting on where they have been and what they have experienced while dreaming and creating a life aligned with their values, even if they have never experienced it before. This often involves supporting individuals in identity and values exploration, cultivating self-compassion, and gently rewriting narratives that shape their experience. Throughout this experience, Anna believes in naming and validating the impact of systemic oppression and societal norms while fostering liberation from internalized shame.

Anna’s person-centered and strengths-based approach centers creating a supportive and collaborative therapeutic relationship that values inner wisdom and lived experience. Her eclectic approach incorporates ACT, CBT, parts work, mindfulness, and DBT-informed and RO-DBT-informed interventions, based on client needs. Her therapeutic style is informal and unstructured, and she will find ways to incorporate, humor, play, creativity, books, movies, and client interests into sessions. Engaging in therapy and vulnerability can be hard, and Anna prioritizes meeting clients where they are and moving at their pace.

Outside of therapy, Anna loves playing tennis, dancing, and yoga. She also enjoys exploring tarot, meditation, and journaling. Additionally, she is deeply passionate about experiences of awe found in nature and found in eating and discussing the wide and wondrous world of potato chips.
