ELI JOHNSON, LISW-S

elijah.jpeg

Eli Johnson, MSW, LISW-S (they/them/their) is a white, bisexual, neurodivergent, non-binary person passionate about supporting queer and trans folks in Ohio. With a background in social work (both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees), Eli specializes in trans-affirming care and advocacy. Eli is a therapist, supervisor, and strategic planner for Clintonville Counseling and Wellness.

Eli comes from a leftist, community organizer background, offering therapy through an anti-oppressive lens to help create a space that acknowledges and challenges systems of power. Eli has been a dedicated advocate in the LGBTQ+ community across Ohio for over 10 years, working to ensure queer and trans individuals have the resources and support they need.

Before joining CCW, Eli focused on crisis intervention and mental health therapy, providing services to queer, trans, and HIV+ communities during times of crisis and trauma. They have experience working with and treating anxiety, dissociative disorders, gender-related concerns, PTSD, and personality disorders.

Eli’s approach to therapy is compassionate and flexible, combining techniques like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They recognize that therapy is a personal journey, so they meet you where you are and offer a supportive space to grow and heal at your pace.

Eli’s goal is to help you feel seen and heard, offering encouragement and understanding while also helping you stay focused on your goals and values. They’re here to root for you, give you grace, and hold you accountable as you work through life’s challenges.

Outside of the therapy room, Eli often brings their dog on little adventures scampering through nature. They love running, reading about abolition/queer yearning, crafting, and wildly dumb internet memes.
