

KILIYAH MAIR, CT

Kiliyah Mair, CT (she/her) is a Black fat able-bodied lesbian woman and progressive Muslim currently interning at Clintonville Counseling & Wellness (CCW). She is a proud womanist, fat liberationist, and anti-imperialist that utilizes her lived experiences to inform the intentional and client-centered care she provides. She is committed to developing an authentic and safe therapeutic relationship with the clients she works with.

Kiliyah is dedicated to supporting clients with marginalized identities as they navigate unique stressors linked to societal oppression. She is passionate about working with clients in larger bodies, the LGBTQ+ community, LGBTQ+ Muslims, and clients of color. Kiliyah recognizes oppression as a debilitating force that not only impairs us economically and socially but also psychologically. She intends to support adult and teen clients struggling with trauma, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, identity issues, internalized fatphobia, and body image concerns.

She is a first-generation college student who received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Diversity Studies from Baldwin Wallace University. She is currently studying at The Ohio State University in order to receive a Master’s of Counselor Education with a Clinical Mental Health Counseling concentration. For the past several years Kiliyah has also worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), supporting autistic children and teens with social, behavioral, and communication skills throughout Franklin County.

Kiliyah utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solutions Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Feminist Therapy, and Liberation Psychology to support the unique needs of her clients. She prioritizes the therapeutic relationship when administering care and is committed to analyzing the ways in which oppressive systems play a part in our struggle. In her free time Kiliyah enjoys participating in group power yoga, reading, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her family, friends, and tuxedo cat.
